Cement Conference & Silo Cleaning Collaboration

Our Technical Director Alex Bergus is often in demand overseas either as a guest speaker at industrial conferences or as an acoustic cleaning expert supervising an installation of our technology. His travels take him far and wide and recently he was in India. Here he is speaking at the Global Cement India Conference in Mumbai.

A mechanical engineering graduate with links to leading academic institutes and a vast amount of practical, industrial experience, Alex is a key figure in our R&D program with the cement industry a core focus for his attention.

Conferences are not just opportunities for marketing and potential sales, however. They also present a great platform for the meeting of minds, particularly of the collaborative kind. This photograph is a great example of just that.

Not forgetting the acoustic cleaner centre stage!

Mr Bakshi is one of the numerous Primasonics agents around the world currently working to promote the value of acoustic cleaning. Click here to read about our growing network.

The cement industry has figured strongly in our list of clients and cement plant cleaning is certainly one of the most challenging when it comes to material flow solutions. Our acoustic cleaners can be used for a wide range of applications in cement plants from bulk storage silos to bulk tankers, ductwork, calciners, id fans, static cyclones, preheaters and precipitators. Cement Plant Cleaning Success

Acoustic cleaning has been favoured by many industries for some years now as the preferred choice of material flow solution.  From power generation to petrochemical, pharmaceutical to pet foods, the spectrum of industrial plants in need of our services is a wide one. The most popular demand has perhaps come from the cement industry and so far 2012 sees that demand on the increase.

In the coming month our Technical Director Mr Alex Bergus will be travelling to various cement plants oversesas to supervise the commissioning of our Prima Whip equipment. This specially devised equipment offers a safe and fast solution for cleaning cement silos, bins and hoppers. With the option to fit a choice of whips and cutting edges, even the toughest of material build-up can be removed without damage to the silo, bin or hopper walls. This silo cleaning system eliminates the need for operators to enter the confines of the silo itself - an environment which can be potentially dangerous.

Mobile and easily positioned, the Prima Whip is without question the cement plant operators' best friend!

Alex's itinerary will take him to the Philippines and Egypt and in between he will attend Cemtech Asia (17-20 June) in Jakarta, Indonesia  where he will present a technical paper on the theory and application of acoustic cleaning within cement plants (and power generation plants).

So if you are involved in cement plant operations and need to find the best solution for cement silo cleaning etc then this year's Cemtech Asia provides a great opportunity. Visit our Primasonics International stand (Number 13) for the chance to meet Alex and have your technical questions answered by an acknowledged acoustic cleaning expert!

Pre-Heater ID Fan Problems: Acoustic Cleaner To The Rescue

Cement silo cleaning that is conducted in an effective and safe manner is a priority for all cement plants around the world.

Cement as a material (like coal and gypsum) has properties which under certain conditions will cause it to cling to silo walls and create blockages. The results of this can be very costly and dangerous - loss of storage capacity, production delays and sometimes even serious and fatal accidents if attempts at manual cleaning are attempted. (Read more about health and safety in the cement industry)

So not only is effective silo cleaning required but also safe silo cleaning. Our acoustic cleaners meet the criteria for both. Indeed, in cement plants there can be other problems such as material build-up on pre-heater id fans.

We recently supplied our PAS-120 acoustic cleaner for installation on a pre-heater ID fan in a cement plant in Malaysia. Previously, the plant was having to stop the fan every 25 days to totally clean it but since the PAS-120 was installed that has not been necessary.

The only time they have stopped the fan since the installation of our acoustic cleaner has been to check to see if there had been any material build-up. What did they find? No build up at all inside the fan. Not surprising therefore that the company has since contacted us to express their satisfaction with the performance of our product. So much so that they now want our agent back on site to discuss other fan cleaning and silo applications!
